Sending SMS through Google Calendar

Google Calendar has the nice feature that it can send you reminder via SMS for your events.

I have been using it since last year to send myself alert SMS in scripts. As some people look interested, here is the small ruby script. You will need googlecalendar.rb which you can also install using gem install googlecalendar and change the script to load the gem.

The usage is very simple : send-sms "Some text".

GNU Tar option of the day

       --exclude-vcs
              exclude version control system directories

And you no longer need to add CVS/, .svn/, .git/... to the exclude list (.cvsignore and .gitignore will also be excluded). That's nice when switching VCS.

This option was added to GNU Tar in version 1.19 released on 2007-10-10.
