GNOME Getting your cursor back

From time to time, when using Galeon, my cursor gets stuck in drag mode. An old bug report exists about it on Launchpad but doesn't seem to have been reported upstream.

Last week blino told me about a workaround he found when it happens to him in Firefox or Epiphany: activate the menu with Alt+F.

This works in Galeon too! I no longer need to switch to tty1 and kill Galeon!

Update: I actually found 2 upstream bug reports (#504624 and #602461).

Today's TSUKKOMI(Total: 7) [Add a TSUKKOMI]

galeon is (almost) dead upstream, you should join the project and commit patches if you want that fixed.

Wow, that's incredibly useful to know. I've hated the event whenever it's happened, and have had to alt-tab away and killall my browser. Hurrah for superior fixes!

This bug should really be fixed in the X server. A single app that can make all input unresponsive???
This bug have been there for ages in multiple programs. I have also experienced it in Nautilus and Firefox.
But really - neither Windows nor OSX have this problem, why do X?

I always thought it was because I’m using xmonad, thanks for the fix.

Also good to know that there are still other galeon users out there!

Galeon? I mean, really!?

This happens in Epiphany too !

Happens to Firefox too.

Similar issue happens to Google Chrome too, but a simple click anywhere fixes it.
