Few months ago, Karel Zak (from RedHat) forked util-linux which was unmaintained. The fork is called util-linux-ng and has an open development model (Mailing list, git repository). The list is really alive, with patches arriving everyday and commented quickly !
I had a simple patch on fdisk that I had sent to previous util-linux maintainer without getting an answer. I sent it to util-linux-ng two days ago, got an answer, posted an updated version yesterday, and it is now applied !
It looks like util-linux will now evolve after a few years sleeping, that's really good news :)
Here is a benchmark between most terminals available. The benchmark is quite simple: cat on big RFC (SIP).
The winner for speed is gnome-terminal, with konsole quite close (only 2 times slower :) ). Regarding memory usage, if you have only one terminal konsole will use less memory than gnome-terminal, but starting at 3 gnome-terminal will use less.
So, thanks a lot to GNOME hackers for improving gnome-terminal which was quite slow few years ago and is really fast nowadays !>
I had found the Movies part of Internet Archive few months ago by chance but it looks like nobody heard about it, so let's give it some free advertising.
You can find there a lot of old movies that are in Public Domain, and download them in various qualities and formats. There are a lot of famous ones like Night of the Living Dead, 67 movies from Charlie Chaplin, Un Chien Andalou, Nosferatu, and a lot more !
There are also some less famous ones like this old military training film about sex hygiene.
